What's New - Verified 4.9 Release

Version: 4.9.0
Released to UAT: August 5, 2026
Released to Production: August 11, 2026
Release Type: Feature Release

Release Overview

Release 4.9.0 delivers new decision-policy controls for identity Proofing, stronger biometric matching, expanded Admin API capabilities, richer capture feedback in the Web SDK, and broader support for Indian identity documents (Aadhaar). It also includes multi-country SMS delivery, capture-reliability improvements across iOS and iPad, and numerous bug fixes and platform stability enhancements.

Highlights

  • Configurable Proof decision policies - A new Decision Node interface lets administrators tune how individual identity signals influence a Proof decision and apply preset policies.
  • Proof decision result viewer - Review the signals and outcome behind each Proof transaction, even after temporary personal data is removed.
  • ZeroIndex (ZI) matching - A second, independent biometric match factor that strengthens matching accuracy.
  • Expanded Admin API for role management - List admin users and roles with pagination, and add or remove a single role without overwriting existing access.
  • Richer capture guidance in the Essential UI Web SDK - The SDK now surfaces specific image-quality reasons, including glasses detection.
  • Broader Aadhaar support - Improved handling of legacy (pre-2018) cards, QR codes without an embedded photo, and India-specific document-liveness signals.

New Features & Enhancements

Decision Node UI

Proof decisioning is now yours to control, with no code required. Release 4.9.0 introduces a no-code Decision Node UI where your team can configure how each identity signal shapes a Proof result, apply preset policies, and see the full reasoning behind every decision in Transaction Details.

  • Per-signal Proof decision configuration - Configure how each identity signal contributes to a Proof decision through the new Decision Node UI, including selectable preset policies.
  • Proof decision result view - A new section within Transaction Details surfaces the detailed signals and result for each Proof transaction.
  • Privacy-aware decision details - Proof decision information now displays even after temporary personal data is removed.
  • Additional signals surfaced - The policy editor now includes the AadhaarQrSignature, DMVLookup, and Barcode Detective signals (with seeded thresholds for the DMV pair) so administrators can view, tune, or ignore them.

Biometric Matching

  • ZeroIndex (ZI) matching - A second, independent match factor is now persisted at registration and evaluated at verification for Privacy Key 1:1 workflows and the search/match API (1:1 and 1:Few), strengthening matching accuracy. Existing credentials continue to verify normally.
  • Omnifaces "best" enrollment model - Enrollment can now use the Omnifaces "best" generation model for richer facial pose coverage, configurable at the tenant and system level.

Capture & SDK

  • Explicit image-quality feedback - When a selfie fails a quality check, users now see specific guidance (too dark, out of focus, multiple faces, or glasses detected) with a retry option, instead of a generic error screen.
  • Image-quality feedback in the Web SDK - The Essential UI Web SDK now exposes glasses detection and four additional image-quality reason codes to help improve first-attempt capture success.

Document Support (India / Aadhaar)

  • Legacy Aadhaar feedback screen - When an older Aadhaar cannot be verified because its QR code is a legacy, unverifiable format or does not contain a facial image, users now see a dedicated screen explaining the situation and how to obtain a verifiable Aadhaar, instead of a generic "wrong document" error.
  • "Paper Copy" signal handling for specific India documents - The "Paper Copy" document-liveness signal is now suppressed from the overall pass/fail for specific India document templates where low print quality causes false failures.

Administration & APIs

  • Paginated admin-user listing - A new Admin API endpoint returns admin users together with their assigned roles as structured arrays, with pagination for large teams.
  • Granular role updates - Add or remove a single role on an admin account without affecting the user's other roles.

Platform

  • Multi-country SMS delivery - The SMS service now supports delivery to multiple countries from a single account, selecting an appropriate sender type per destination (e.g., UK and India delivery alongside US).

Bug Fixes

  • Uncertain expiry no longer fails valid documents - Documents whose expiration date is uncertain are no longer rejected as expired.
  • Selfie capture frame - The green capture frame now displays correctly during selfie capture in the new UI.
  • iOS image uploads - Resolved an issue on iOS Safari where images could be uploaded in an unsupported format, causing "signature missing" or "invalid format" errors.
  • Advanced injection attack detection on iPad - Fixed transaction failures when using advanced injection attack detection on iPad Safari in Desktop Mode.
  • Workflow progress recording - Corrected how incomplete and failed selfie attempts are recorded in workflow progress.
